The 2023 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship is slated to be held at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas Friday, February 24 – Saturday, February 25. Texas Tech hosts the Championship for the third time in five years (2019 and 2021).
Live coverage of the meet will air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ starting at 10 a.m. CT on both days. Lincoln Rose and Johanna Gretschel will provide commentary.
Last season, Texas swept both men’s and women’s indoor titles for the second consecutive year with 171 and 136 points, respectively. Texas Tech’s Jacolby Shelton and Iowa State’s Cailie Logue were last year’s high-point scorers.
Four men’s teams sit in the top-25, which includes three in the top 10: No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 5 Texas, No. 6 Oklahoma State and No. 23 Oklahoma. On the women’s side, Texas sits at No. 1 while Texas Tech is No. 14 and Oklahoma State is No. 23.
The Big 12 holds four NCAA-leading marks. Texas’ Yusuf Bizimana leads the nation in the 800m while Oklahoma State sits atop the distance medley relay on the men’s side. Texas’ Rhasidat Adeleke holds this season’s best time in the 400m and teammate Julien Alfred leads the nation in the 60m run. In the women’s 200m, the Big 12 holds six of the best 10 times in the event.
Friday’s Championship events will begin with the women’s pentathlon 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. while the men’s 4x400m relay concludes events on Saturday. The full schedule of events can be found here.
