This will be the first-ever meeting between Coastal Carolina and UTSA. The Chanticleers have competed in the Sun Belt Conference since moving to the FBS level in 2017, while the Roadrunners have been a member of the American Athletic Conference since 2023.
Coastal Carolina (6-6, 3-5 SBC) clinched bowl eligibility for a fifth consecutive season with a 48-27 win over Georgia State in their final regular season game. After starting the season 4-1, the Chanticleers finished in 5th place in the Sun Belt East division standings.
Following a victory in the 2023 EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl, Chanticleers’ head coach Tim Beck will lead Coastal Carolina to a bowl game in both of his first two years at the helm. Overall, the Chanticleers will be making their 5th bowl game appearance, posting a 2-2 record.
UTSA (6-6, 4-4 AAC) enters the Myrtle Beach Bowl for their fifth-straight bowl game appearance. The Roadrunners put together a three-game winning streak in November with victories over No. 25 Memphis, North Texas, and Temple to clinch bowl eligibility.
UTSA finished seventh in their second year in the American Athletic Conference. Since being hired in 2019, UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor has led the Roadrunners to a bowl game in each of his five seasons, including a 35-17 win over Marshall in the 2023 Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl last year. Overall, UTSA will be making their sixth bowl game appearance, holding a 1-4 record.
