The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is supporting the Service Academies Golf Foundation in hosting the second edition of The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup. On October 12–15, 2024, three of the nation’s most respected collegiate institutions will send their service academy golf teams to compete against each other in The Palm Beaches. These institutions, which include the United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy, and United States Air Force Academy, will contend for The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup at the historic Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach.
The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup will be awarded after 3-days and 54 holes of competition. A College – Am event precedes the actual match between the three service academies.
The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup was created to honor those who have served, are serving, and will serve to protect all of us and the freedoms we cherish. And while this is a golf competition, it also celebrates the importance of camaraderie and friendship, shared values, and striving for excellence.
Seminole Golf Club is one of America’s most majestic golf venues. Situated on the Atlantic coastline, Seminole Golf Club is one of the region’s most revered and challenging courses. Both nines set out from the clubhouse on level ground before veering into the 40-foot dune ridge that runs alongside the western edge of the property. At 6,800 yards, the coastal breezes make Seminole plenty for any golfer to handle.
The Commander-in-Chiefs Cup marks the continuation of the ongoing partnership between Seminole Golf Club, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and premier golf tournament organizers. In 2021, the Seminole Golf Club hosted the United States Golf Association’s 48th Walker Cup. In 2023, Seminole Golf Club was home to the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, an annual prestigious collegiate golf invitational.
“The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup brings one of the most inspiring championships and trophies in sports to The Palm Beaches” said George Linley, Palm Beach County Sports Commission Executive Director. “Hosting the United State Military Academies’ golf teams, the Army Black Knights, Navy Midshipmen, and the Air Force Falcons, is a tremendous privilege for our Sports Commission. This event is a descendant from a football tradition dating back to 1890, which featured the Army and Navy military academies.”
The Commander-in-Chief’s Cup elevates The Palm Beaches’ position as one of America’s premier destinations for collegiate golf events. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has been actively seeking opportunities to host collegiate golf products, successfully bringing in NCAA Division I & II regional and national championships. By leveraging many of the 145 picturesque golf courses in The Palm Beaches, the Sports Commission continues to attract high-quality golf events.
