The time has arrived to welcome bowlers from all over to Baton Rouge to compete in the USBC Open Championships. After years of preparation and two months of building out a brand new state-of-the-art bowling venue, bowling officially gets kicked off this week with the Special Olympics North America Tournament, the BTM Tournament, the Baton Rouge Mayor’s Charity Event on Friday night and Opening Ceremonies for the Open Championships on Saturday evening.
Over the next 150 days, Baton Rouge will be the center of bowling in the United States as nearly 12,000 5-person teams will compete in the Raising Cane’s River Center. The team registration number is the most since 2012, the last time this event was held in Baton Rouge.
The anticipated visitor numbers are staggering. Nearly 60,000 bowlers will compete with attendance expected to push 100,000 total visitors. The current hotel room block is over 56,000 room nights. In 2012, the estimated economic impact was over $112 million with individuals spending an average of $586 per person during their stay in Baton Rouge (not including lodging).
This is the fourth USBC event held in Baton Rouge and the third Open Championship (Open – 2005, 2012, 2025 / Women’s Championship – 2017).
