Chicago Sky to Build State-of-the-Art Practice Facility in Bedford Park, Adjacent to Wintrust Sports Complex

The Chicago Sky has officially announced plans to construct a brand-new, state-of-the-art practice facility right next door to Wintrust Sports Complex, further strengthening our growing sports hub in Bedford Park. In partnership with the Village of Bedford Park, the groundbreaking for this exciting project will take place this fall, with the facility slated for completion by December 2025. This cutting-edge complex will be located just 11 miles from the Sky’s home court at Wintrust Arena, a significant improvement from their current facility, which is nearly 30 miles away and shared with local residents, students, and various organizations.

The project will be led by Bedford Park-based company, Alpa Construction, and will add 40,000 square feet of premium space alongside our existing 116,000 square-foot sports complex. The Sky’s performance center will feature two regulation-sized WNBA courts and an impressive array of first-class amenities, including private player facilities, luxury lounges, a high-tech film room, and an advanced training area outfitted with cutting-edge strength and conditioning equipment. Additionally, the facility will house a private chef’s kitchen, personalized locker rooms, secured parking, a content creation studio, beauty stations, and much more, ensuring that the Sky’s athletes have everything they need to succeed both on and off the court.

Our relationship with the Sky is already strong, having hosted three successful Chicago Sky Youth Basketball Camps at Wintrust Sports Complex this summer. We look forward to continuing this partnership, fostering even deeper connections with the Sky, and helping them extend their reach to communities beyond Chicago’s city limits. This collaboration also promises to uplift women’s basketball across the region, inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Bedford Park Mayor David R. Brady, a lifelong resident, educator, and coach, expressed his excitement about the expansion: “As a lifelong Bedford Park resident, educator, and coach, I am thrilled to announce the expansion of the Wintrust Sports Complex to feature the Chicago Sky’s state-of-the-art practice and training facility. I want to thank our board and the Sky leadership for believing in a collective vision and investing in the future of Bedford Park. We are excited to be part of ‘Skytown’ and look forward to welcoming them to their new home.”

The Sky also announced new partnerships with the YMCA of Metro Chicago and the Obama Foundation, which will further enhance their ability to serve and uplift communities alongside Bedford Park and Wintrust Sports Complex.

We are thrilled to play a role in this new chapter of the Chicago Sky’s great history and look forward to contributing to the growth of women’s basketball, both here in Chicago and beyond.
