New women’s professional team to play its home matches at the historic Cotton Bowl in the heart of Dallas.
The USL Super League celebrated the launch of Dallas’ new top-tier women’s professional soccer club: Dallas Trinity FC. During a celebration event in Dallas , the club unveiled its name, crest, and colors, and announced it would play its home matches at the iconic Cotton Bowl Stadium.
This announcement marks a monumental step toward the club taking the field in August when the new women’s professional league kicks off.
Reflecting a determination to build a professional women’s soccer team as dynamic as the city it calls home, Dallas Trinity FC, led by Chief Executive Officer Jim Neil, will play under the main colors of sunrise maroon, prairie gold, and live oak green. The colors draw inspiration from the city skyline and the Trinity River, which reflects the vibrant nature of Dallas, as well as local pride and excellence.
“Soccer is the pathway to community for many families. Dallas is the perfect backdrop for our expansion, growth, and community to grow wings,” said Jim Neil.
Dallas proves to be an ideal city to launch a professional women’s soccer team considering its rich history and promising future surrounding girls soccer. In 1973, the Dallas Sting became the first all-girls soccer club in the United States, and the Dallas Cup, founded in 1980, is still the most prestigious youth soccer tournament in the country. Currently, the Dallas region is home to more girls soccer players than anywhere else in the country, according to the U.S. Youth Soccer Association.
“North Texas has been waiting for this, and now is the right time for professional women’s soccer in Dallas – the best sports business city in the country,” said Charlie Neil, Dallas Trinity FC President.
