On July 24, Jane Ghosh, President and CEO of Discover Kalamazoo, and Michigan’s Chief Growth Officer, Hilary Doe, alongside leaders from Kalamazoo County and Southwest Michigan, proudly introduced Discover Kalamazoo’s trailblazing tourism marketing initiative, “Fun Awaits You in Kalamazoo.”
This innovative campaign is designed to spotlight the rich tapestry of amenities and attractions that Kalamazoo County offers: business, culture, dining, entertainment, and outdoor recreation. The promotion targets visitors from Michigan and the Great Lakes states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
The primary objectives of this campaign are to enhance visitor spending and to inspire outsiders to envision Kalamazoo County as a prime location to visit, live and thrive.
Notably, this campaign marks a historic collaboration for Discover Kalamazoo. For the first time since its inception, the tourism bureau partnered with over 50 community organizations, including Kalamazoo County, the City of Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan First, and Western Michigan University, to craft a marketing strategy that appeals to visitors and new and long-term residents alike.
The campaign encompasses video, digital, and social media ads across multiple platforms and outdoor advertising. According to Discover Kalamazoo’s research, this ambitious initiative is projected to reach an estimated 12 million individuals aged 18 and above and generate approximately 30 million impressions by December 2024.
