Lubbock Sports is set to welcome athletes, coaches and fans from across the country as the city hosts 13 sporting events from February 7-10—defying the typical winter slowdown seen by many destination marketing and sports organizations. With competitions spanning basketball, wrestling, golf and more, Lubbock continues to solidify its reputation as a premier year-round sports destination.
“This weekend is a testament to the strength of Lubbock’s sports tourism industry,” said Eric Launer, Sports Sales Manager of Lubbock Sports. “Cities usually see a dip in winter sporting events, but this year, we’re growing—bringing in more visitors, energy and a boost to the local economy.”
Events range from the UIL 5A Regional Wrestling Tournament to the Special Olympics Area 17 Basketball Competition to the Lubbock Sports College Invitational Softball Tournament, showcasing a variety of sports and competition levels.
These winter events will drive business to local hotels, restaurants and attractions. For more information on upcoming tournaments and Lubbock’s top-tier sports facilities, visit https://sports.visitlubbock.org
