Marathon Petroleum Preview at Findlay named 2022 Preview of the Year

Braselton, GA – The American Junior Golf Association has named the Marathon Petroleum Preview at Findlay as recipient of the 2022 Preview Tournament of the Year.
Each year, the AJGA presents awards to the tournaments with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am fundraising, charitable giving and volunteer base. Awards are also given to the events with engaged media and social media participation. Finally, the AJGA recognizes the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and golf course executive, as well as the most game-changing event, best new event, best Neuropeak Pro™ Preview Series tournament, best Ninja Junior All-Star Series tournament, best Invitational and overall tournament of the year. Tournament awards for the 2022 season will be presented on-site at the 2023 tournament.
In the Neuropeak Pro™ Preview of the Year category, the award highlights the community involvement, sponsorship fulfillment and overall tournament experience.
In the event’s first year, the tournament committee was able to secured Marathon Petroleum to serve as the Title Sponsor. This sponsorship greatly contributed to the overall success of the event. The tournament raised over $57,000 through the Marathon Petroleum sponsorship and other general donations. These donations allowed the event the opportunity to give back $39,392 to the AJGA’s ACE Grant Program and Millstream School, which provides college and career prep for the community. The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant provides financial assistance to young men and women who aspire to earn a college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf.
The tournament committee played a key role in receiving this award. This event was supported by a large local committee, to help ensure everything was set in place for AJGA juniors to have an exceptional tournament experience.

Throughout the week of the tournament, the Findlay Convention & Visitors Bureau was able to donate meals for the AJGA staff members on-site at the event. This enabled the AJGA to have all project zero items donated (fruit, water, ice, medic, gas/rental cars, housing, staff food). These donations greatly contributed to the amount saved in tournament costs, allowing the event to give back more money to charity.
The AJGA is lucky to have the support of Marathon Petroleum and the surrounding Findlay community to host exceptional events for our juniors. Last year’s event was a great success and we look forward to the continuation of this partnership for future AJGA events.
