MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State Brandywine Recruiting, Retention and Alumni Coordinator Myeisha Matos was named head coach of the Lions’ men’s and women’s cross country teams on Wednesday.
Matos has served the athletic department in a full-time capacity for five years, leading the recruiting efforts of the entire 12-team department, while aiding in student-athlete retention and alumni relations.
Since picking up the sport in 2020, Matos has logged just under 2,000 miles as a runner. A member of Philadelphia’s Swagga House Run Club, Matos has competed in numerous 5K and 10K runs in the area, as well as the Philadelphia Ten Miler, which she completed in under 90 minutes, and participated in the Philadelphia Mayor’s Cup.
Matos’ future runs include the Love Run Philadelphia Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon and the Lola Challenge (5K, 10K and 21K runs over three days) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A 2015 graduate of Penn State Brandywine, Matos was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team, helping the Lions to four consecutive Penn State University Athletic Conference Tournament appearances. During her time as a student, Matos worked in the athletic department, aiding in game day operations, intramurals and gave tours to prospective student-athletes and their families.
Following her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, Matos worked at NBC Sports Philadelphia as a sales assistant from 2016-19. She assisted with clients and members of the Philadelphia Flyers organization in selling advertising.
