Prospect Wire is excited to announce a brand new event coming to our Spring tournament lineup. Running at the same time as the Snowbird Classic, a collegiate baseball event in Port Charlotte, Prospect Wire’s NextGen divisions (13U, 14U) will host a tournament alongside the college games. With teams already beginning to sign up, PW is excited for the prospects of the event and its future.
“Prospect Wire enjoyed a strong Spring campaign in 2024, with much of that coming thanks to RussMatt Baseball, the largest college baseball event in the country. RussMatt brings over 200 colleges from the Northeast, Midwest and other cold weather regions down to Central Florida and gives them a place to play their schedules, where otherwise they would be unable to get on their own fields due to the cold weather,” stated Brian Werner, President of Prospect Wire. “Much of the success of these events we run comes from having these colleges around at the same time. It creates a cool atmosphere for the young athletes and exposes them to many collegiate baseball programs they might not otherwise know existed.”
With the acquisition of the Snowbird event, DS Sports CEO Rob Sitz is excited about the possibilities it will present for Prospect Wire in the tournament space.
“We have seen so much success in Central Florida,” remarked Sitz. “It only makes sense that we will see similar things taking place in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda. They are a hard working, amazing destination to work with and we are grateful for their hospitality thus far. I am really excited to see what we can do from the tournament aspect now that we have access to these fields during Snowbird.”
