MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce that Myrtle Beach will host the SBD World’s Strongest Man (WSM) competition on April 19 – 20 and 22 – 23, 2023, at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.
During the four-day event, 30 of the world’s top strongmen professional athletes will go head-to-head in a series of strength competitions such as lifting up to 500-pound weights.
“We are very excited about taking the SBD World’s Strongest Man competition to Myrtle Beach this year. These top-strength athletes will be pushed to their physical and mental limits with events that will challenge them to pull, push, carry, lift and toss heavy weights such as large trucks, cars, kettle bells and the event’s iconic Atlas Stones,” said Rebecca Levin, vice president of IMG Media, which produces the competition.
“WSM is one of those iconic events that’s beloved by fans, young and old, from across the globe. We’re thrilled to be able to partner with IMG and showcase our entire destination to their worldwide audience,” said Jonathan Paris, executive director of sports tourism for Visit Myrtle Beach.
“Myrtle Beach is a place where everyone can celebrate their best self – making this the ideal location to host an event designed to challenge competitors to be their best. We know our residents and visitors will thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to be part of all the excitement,” said Karen Riordan, MBACC and CVB President and CEO.
SBD Apparel, the brand that has supported the sport’s top contenders with equipment for several years, has signed as the competition’s title partner through 2024.
The event is free and open to the public starting at 7 a.m. daily. Visit TheWorldsStrongestMan.com for more information.
