Starfire Sports – Starfire Sports is the crown jewel in Seattle Southside that the Destination works with closely. This 52-acre campus features a mix of grass and turf fields of a variety of sizes. The soccer and rugby venue caters to local youth sports as well as many travel tournaments. Starfire Sports is also home of the Seattle Seawolves, Seattle’s Major League Rugby team. Valley Ridge Park – In the city of SeaTac, Valley Ridge Park is home to 4 beautifully redone sports fields with lights perfect for soccer, softball or baseball. The park also features two tennis courts, full court and half-court basketball, futsal mini-pitch, a concession stand, playground equipment, restrooms, a community center and parking.
North SeaTac Park – Across 120-acres, North SeaTac Park offers disc golf, a BMX track, and 3 baseball diamonds and 2 soccer fields that are slated to be redone and turfed by 2024. The park also features a playground, picnic area, paved walking trails and a community center.
Des Moines Beach Park & Marina – Des Moines Beach Park & Marina is a perfect venue for water sports. Any events that need to be on the water, like a standup paddleboard race, sailing or fishing could be based out of this scenic beach park. The venue also features walking trails, a creek, picnic area, and a beach for the family to enjoy.
Explore Seattle with Ease – Of course, being situated right outside of Seattle is the perfect opportunity to explore the city. Hop on a Link Light Rail ride for a quick, stress-free ride into Seattle. While you’re there, check out the city’s attractions like the Space Needle, the Gum Wall and the Seattle Aquarium.
Family-Friendly Fun – The Seattle Southside region has plenty of family-friendly entertainment options for youth sports groups. DEFY Seattle in Tukwila, the world’s largest extreme air sports park, features foam pits, trampolines, climbing walls and more. Also in Tukwila, the Family Fun Center offers indoor and outdoor fun including Laser Tag, a roller coaster simulator, bumper boats and Go Karts. The Family Fun Center is walking distance from Starfire Sports, so the family can have some fun during or after the game.
The Museum of Flight – Home to one of the largest and most impressive air and space collections in the US, The Museum of Flight is an interactive excursion for the whole family. The museum features 175 aircraft and spacecraft, thousands of artifacts, millions of rare photographs, dozens of exhibits and experiences and a world-class library.
Seattle Chocolate – In Tukwila, Seattle Chocolate is a women-owned local gem. Stop by to buy some tasty treats in beautiful packaging or sign up for a chocolate tour to go behind-the-scenes of the process and try a few samples.
Enjoy the waterfront – In Des Moines, the waterfront is dotted with businesses offering water-based activities, like kayak or paddleboard rentals. Folks can also fish by the pier, enjoy a waterfront picnic or walk, or enjoy a day on the beach.
With the Link Light Rail, shuttle services, and proximity to Seattle, this region is super convenient for sports travelers. Shuttle service is often provided to and from the airports by the many hotels in the Seattle Southside region. On the Link Light Rail, visitors can get to downtown Seattle in just 30 minutes. For those looking to extend their stay, there is so much to explore, especially for sports fanatics with plenty of major league sports teams close by. For those longer stays, renting a car is an easy option to explore.
