Wave goodbye to winter as we are just days away from a BIG spring kickoff in Sandusky. The events calendar is packed with tournaments at Cedar Point Sports Center, Sports Force Parks, and Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. We’re here to get you the scoop on all the action coming to Shores & Islands Ohio the next couple months.
Sports Force Parks kicks off their 2023 season with the High School Lacrosse Faceoff, bringing some of the best teams in Ohio to the turf to start off their season on March 4 – 5. The fields won’t be empty long, with the Baseball and Softball Preseason Challenge running on all ten fields from March 11 -12. The Lake Effect College Soccer Showcases split the next two weekends, with the Men’s Showcase from March 17 – 19 and the Women’s Showcase keeping the pitch going from March 24 – 26. The team gets a short break before the 17 Baseball Tourn-a-League kicks off, a three-tournament series consisting of the Roller Coaster Challenge, Double Play Tournament, and the Kalahari Klassic each weekend from April 15 through 30 while the Spring Shootout splits the fields with a soccer tournament from April 22-23. Cedar Point Sports Center is in full swing of club volleyball season as the indoor venue has been hosting tournaments almost every weekend since the start of 2023. The Sandusky Block Party gets March rolling March 4, followed by the Ohio Valley Region Shamrock Challenge and Showtime Events’ Queen of the Coaster the following weekends. The Lake Erie Showdown rounds out the month of March before the TM Memorial Regional Challenge and Battle of Sandusky Bay open up April’s slate of events. The Breakout Bash, Spring Thaw and Battle of Lake Erie finish off the early spring volleyball run. If you can’t make it to the Cedar Point Sports Center, the venue also has a virtual tour to explore.
There will be plenty of cheer and dancing at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions this spring! The Aloha Sandusky Showdown brings a luau theme to the region on March 4 as teams compete for the “KA MAHALO” Award which is a 3-foot tall wooden tiki statue The Candyland Cheer & Dance Championships and Kalahari Open keep cheer competitions going through the rest of March before leading to The ONE Cheer & Dance Finals on April 29.
Start your engines! The Sandusky Speedway’s 2023 Opening Night is on April 29! Pure Stocks, Renegades, All-American and Beginner Stock classes will be on track at the half-mile oval track on Perkins Ave. Sandusky Speedway is home to some of the most affordable racing in Ohio, with tickets for the opener just $7 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12.
