After years of planning, construction of the new 420,000-square-foot sports complex in south Overland Park is well underway.
The complex, called the AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk, is being built in two phases, with the first portion complete in the fall or winter of 2024, said Samuel Noel, spokesman for Bluhawk. Initially, developers had said the first portion would be ready by spring.
The first phase will include an ice rink, four basketball courts, 40,000 square feet of turf, a sprinting track and a café on the southwest corner of U.S. Highway 69 and 159th Street.
“The Bluhawk development is on the leading edge of youth and amateur competitive and recreational sports in Kansas City and across the country,” Kent Price, president of developer Price Brothers Management Co., said when the project’s groundbreaking was announced.
