US Team shatters PJSC record en route to win

Arlington, Va. – The US Team wins the 13th PING Junior Solheim Cup at Army Navy Country Club – Arlington. The Americans, captained by Beth Daniel of South Carolina, won with a final score of 18.5 – 5.5 over Team Europe, captained by Gwladys Nocera of France. This is the Americans’ eighth PING Junior Solheim Cup title, moving the all-time record to 8-4-1.
The US Team’s score of 18.5 points is the most points scored by either team in the tournament’s history. The ending score of 18.5 to 5.5 is also the largest margin any team has won by in tournament history.
The American team started the event strong earning eight points after Monday’s four-ball and foursome matches. Alice Kong of Palaiseau, France, and Paris Appendino, of Turin, Italy, were the only two Europeans to remain undefeated after the first day. They tied their morning fourball match and won 1 up over Madison Messimer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Sofia Cherif Essakali of Orlando, Florida. Team USA earned a total of 8 points after the first day while Team Europe earned 4.
Heading into the final round, Team USA needs to win at least 4.5 points through the singles matches to take back The Cup while Europe needs 8 points to retain it.
The USA won ten matches and halved one during Singles play.
- Elizabeth Rudisill of Charlotte, North Carolina, defeated No. 9 player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, Andrea Revuelta of Madrid, Spain, 3&2.
- Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, and Lily Reitter of Talloires, France, tied the match on No. 18.
- Avery McCrery of Wilmington, Delaware, defeated Louise Uma Landgraf of Strassbourg, France, 2&1.
- Mia Hammond of New Albany, Ohio, defeated Sara Brentcheneff of Saint Rambert D’albon, France, 1 up.
- Natalie Yen of West Linn, Oregon, defeated Alice Kong of Palaiseau, France, 3&1.
- Anna Fang of San Diego, California, defeated Benedicte Brent-Buchholz of Copenhagen, Denmark, 3&2.
- Madison Messimer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, defeated Havanna Torstensson of Halmstad, Sweden, 5&4.
- Jude Lee of Walnut, California, defeated Perla Sola Sigurbrandsdottir of Reykjavik, Iceland, 5&4.
- Gianna Clemente of Estero, Florida, defeated Paris Appendino of Turin, Italy, 5&4.
- Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham, Alabama, defeated Molly Ralin of Vaxjo, Sweden, 3&2.
- Sofia Cherif Essakali of Orlando, Florida, defeated Victoria Kristensen of Thisted, Denmark, 4&3.
Martina Navarro Navarro of Alicante, Spain, won her match over Nikki Oh of Torrance, California 2&1 to close out the event.
This week’s win marks Team USA’s first win since 2019 in Scotland and first win on US soil since 2017 in Iowa. Prior to losing The Cup in 2021 and 2023, Team USA held the title for six years.
Modeled after the Solheim Cup, the PING Junior Solheim Cup biennially features the 12 best female junior golfers (ages 12-18) from the United States against their counterparts from Europe. The team match play event includes foursomes, four-ball and singles matches played over two days and rotates between U.S. and European host sites coinciding with the Solheim Cup. This year’s event includes both teams watching the final days of the Solheim Cup matches at Robert Trent Jones.
Since 2002, the PING Junior Solheim Cup has brought together the next generation of women’s golfers in a Team USA vs. Team Europe match play tournament.
In addition to featuring some of the world’s best female junior golfers, the PING Junior Solheim Cup is known for its iconic host venues including Gleneagles – Kings Course in Scotland, The Inverness Hotel & Golf Club in Englewood, Colorado, La Zagaleta Golf Club in Spain, Bastad Golf Club in Sweden and now Army Navy Country Club – Arlington.
The United States leads the all-time PING Junior Solheim Cup series 8-4-1 and had won six consecutive matches until Europe won for the first time on foreign soil in 2021 and then again in 2023. Last year Team Europe, led by Gwladys Nocera, took the Cup home at The Old Course at La Zagaleta in Benahavís, Spain, with a final score of 15-9
