The hockey scene is truly buzzing now that Utah’s NHL team is officially home. This milestone has sparked a renewed passion for the sport, drawing attention from fans and players alike. The Delta Center, which hosts Utah’s NBA team the Utah Jazz, will now also host Utah’s NHL team. While there are still no confirmed plans of the updates that will come to Salt Lake’s Downtown District, the Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) has expressed plans to make significant improvements and updates to the City’s Center and the surrounding blocks.
Alongside this news, the SEG recently unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art practice facility for the team. This new facility will sit just 20 minutes South of Salt Lake City, and will revamp what is currently now, Sandy South Town Mall. Over the next couple of years, construction of the new practice facility will take place, which will include two NHL-Standard ice rinks. These top-notch rinks will also serve the community, allowing for youth and amateur hockey leagues use. With this, the facility is poised to become a hub for hockey excellence in the region.
With over 29,000 deposits for season tickets and a premier practice facility on the horizon, a bright future for lays ahead for hockey in Utah.
