On Sunday night, Villanova learned that it was chosen to play in the 2024 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). The Wildcats were awarded one of the four one seeds and will host Virginia Commonwealth on Thursday, March 21. Tip-off time is set for 7 p.m., at the Finneran Pavilion. With a win in round one, Villanova would face either Virginia or High Point in the second round on Sunday, March 24.
As a one seed, Villanova would host the first three rounds of the tournament. The quarterfinals will be held on March 28 with the final four teams advancing to Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University for the semifinals on Monday, April 1. The WBIT will conclude with the inaugural championship game on Wednesday, April 3.
Villanova will be making its 20th postseason appearance in the last 23 years. The stretch includes eight berths in the NCAA Tournament, 11 WNIT appearances and one WBIT invite. In its previous 11 trips to the WNIT, Villanova has tallied an 18-12 record.
