Visit Frisco is the First GTTA Certified Golf Tournament Planner DMO in the U.S.
On June 19, 2024 Visit Frisco hosted the first Certified Golf Tournament Planner Program for Corporate Meeting Panners in partnership with Meeting Professionals International. A group of 20 Meeting Planners from around the country gathered in Frisco, Texas at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort. The planners, along with members of the Visit Frisco staff, participated in educational sessions covering all aspects of hosting and producing golf tournaments, including Pro Ams, Celebrity-Ams, Chairty Events, Corporate Events, and Night Golf Tournaments.
Topics covered included selling sponsors, recruiting golfers, finding golf courses, formats, games and contests, scoring options, hotels, food and beverage, and more.
The Corporate Certified Golf Tournament Planners from Visit Frisco are Christina Decker, Director of Sales, Lisa Bethea, Director of Destination Services, Devon Doggett, Destination Services Coordinator, and Lydia Vara-Sebany, Destination Services Coordinator. Visit Frisco is proud to have the first DMO member, Christina Decker, to earn the certification and the first DMO Destination Services team to have earned this certification.
