While discovering South Bend, consider Compton Family Ice Arena as a place to play or even just to stop by. Located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, the arena is a huge asset to the South Bend community and hosts several large tournaments annually. Though currently closed, officials are hopeful that it will reopen soon. Another fan favorite, Jr. Irish Soccer Complex is a popular tournament site. In addition to the local club, the complex also welcomes soccer and lacrosse tournaments throughout the year that draw ample tourism to The Bend.
The future looks bigger and brighter for South Bend, set to host multiple large sporting events in the coming years. Lacrosse America, which typically hosts one lacrosse tournament annually, has transitioned to planning multiple events a year. The city was scheduled to host the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Midwestern and Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships in January. Though cancelled for 2021, the championship is currently in the rescheduling process for a future year. This coming May and June, the 2021 Midwest Women’s Bowling Tournament will be in South Bend for 6+ weekends. Each weekend, different events will be hosted, bringing teams from across the Midwest region.
