SportsPITTSBURGH, the sports development division of VisitPITTSBURGH, is here to drive visitation and economic impact through hosting sports events in Allegheny County. Our world-class versatile facilities and our attractive amenities will help create a wonderful experience for athletes, their families and the fans.

Our team is designed to support and guide you in ways that will ultimately result in your sports event being a major success. The experience and expertise our team offers in bid planning, marketing, event operations and many more aspects of the sports event process are second to none.

Through sports development, marketing and event planning, collaboration with local programs, professional sports excellence and collegiate level competition, SportsPITTSBURGH continues to tell the story of Pittsburgh as the ultimate sports destination.

Things to do in SportsPITTSBURGH

We invite you to come and find out why! There are so many fun, family-oriented attractions that it will take you several trips to experience them all. If you're a history buff, you can step back into the past at one of the region's many history museums. If your passion is visual or performing arts (or both!) you will be astounded by the amount of theaters, galleries, museums and public art installations in our city. And you can't forget The Andy Warhol Museum, home to the largest collection of Warhol art and archives in the world.

There are so many ways to tour and sightsee around the city of Pittsburgh. You can take a tour by bike, trolley, boat, bus or Segway, or go old fashioned and explore on your own two feet. Learn about the culture of Pittsburgh though food, shopping, and exploring the 90+ neighborhoods that make up our city. If you're a sports fan, you will love the City of Champions. Pittsburgh is home to three professional teams (the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates) as well as numerous NCAA® Division I and II sports teams, and you will never find more devoted fans than Pittsburghers!

Pittsburgh is centrally located with one of the best drive markets in the country. The city is positioned within 500 miles of nearly half of the U.S. population and within a six-hour car ride from 10 states, Washington D.C., and Canada.

Flying? Pittsburgh International Airport is the front door and first impression for millions of annual travelers to the Pittsburgh region. PIT services over 125 daily nonstop flights to 59 airports across multiple carriers. The airport’s Terminal Modernization Program – a $1.4 billion effort to transform the airport experience – is currently underway and anticipated to open in 2025.​​

Once you're here, it's easy to get around. Whether you walk, bike, or ride, navigating Downtown is never an issue. Pittsburgh scored 99/100 for walkability, 77/100 for biking, and 94/100 for public transportation compared to other major cities in the U.S.

Pittsburgh is also featured on Google Transit. This partnership with the Port Authority of Allegheny County allows visitors to search for public transportation routes using interactive Google Maps technology. Port Authority of Allegheny County is the public transit agency for the Greater Pittsburgh area, providing bus, light rail, incline and para-transit service to thousands of riders daily.
