About Greater Columbus Sports Commission
Columbus is a major-league sports city. Few cities have two 20,000 seat arenas and Columbus is one of them with Nationwide Arena and the Schottenstein Center. The first soccer-specific stadium in the U.S., MAPFRE Stadium and the multi-year award winning ballpark, Huntington Park. These facilities are home to the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew SC and to Minor League Baseball’s Columbus Clippers, Triple-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.Fortress Obetz has been home to professional lacrosse matches and PRO Rugby’s Ohio Aviators.
The Greater Columbus Convention Center is one of the city’s most flexible venues and hosts a variety of volleyball, fencing and wrestling tournaments as well as the Arnold Sports Festival.
Berliner Sports Park is the nation's largest softball complex, offering 31 baseball and softball fields, and is just one of the many outdoor facilities owned and operated by Sports Commission partner, the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
Columbus’ university athletic teams represent in all divisions of NCAA play and campus’ provide a host of competition complexes suitable for a multitude of athletic contests, including Capital University, Ohio Dominican University, The Ohio State University, Ohio Wesleyan University and Otterbein University.
