The ODP Regional Championship is contested over a three-day period. The event will be comprised of 60 total teams, in three different age groups; 18U, 16U and 14U. Each team roster will consist of 15 athletes plus coaches.
The teams will come from USA Water Polo’s Eastern Zones (Regions). Each Zone will enter one team into the event with the larger Zones entering two teams. The tournament will start with bracket play comprised of four brackets of four seeded teams.
While the ODP Regional Championship will be centered on competition, another major component will also focus on professional development for our athletes, coaches and referees. Each weekend will also host clinics for coaches and referees to fine tune their skills, as well as, provide educational seminars for athletes on such topics as college recruitment and sport psychology to name a few.
All athletes participating in the ODP Regional Championship will receive a formal evaluation from their Zone coach at the conclusion of the event with the hope of receiving a formal invitation from USA Water Polo to participate at the ODP National Championship. This means if an athlete has any aspirations to be a member of USA Water Polo’s National Team, at any level, they must participate at the ODP National Championship.
