Proceeds will benefit the following programs at ElderCare of Alachua County:
Meals on Wheels: ElderCare of Alachua County offers congregate meal sites and home-delivered meals for seniors. Hot lunch is served at five congregate meal sites throughout Alachua County. Each meal meets one-third of the required daily allowance (RDA) for the senior age group. Come join your friends at a meal site and enjoy a hot meal and socialization. An added benefit to home meal deliveries is the personal contact provided by the volunteer or employee who delivers the meal.
Independence with Low Vision: The Independence with Low Vision Program, in partnership with the Florida Division of Blind Services, provides training for adults and seniors who have experienced severe vision loss or blindness to enable them to continue to live safely and independently in their homes, travel safely in the community and improve their quality of life.
Al’z Place Adult Daycare Center: Al’z Place provides adult day care for people age 18+ with Alzheimer’s disease or severe memory impairment. The adult program is available five days per week, eight hours per day. Therapeutic activities include physical exercise, active and quiet games, reminiscence, validation therapy, doll therapy, and other failure-free activities. A hot lunch that meets one-third of the Dietary Reference Intake for seniors is provided, as well as two snacks daily.
