The Top Gun Invitational was created by Robb Behymer in 2013 to honor the legacy of his father Bill Behymer, a youth softball coach for over 40 years. The inaugural event featured 75 teams from 14 states across 4 age divisions. The event quickly grew in size and competition and is now a vast recruiting opportunity for student-athletes with college coaches at every level from across the nation. In 2024, the four-day event united 4,000 of the most competitive student-athletes from over 30 states who are ready to showcase their talents on the field.

The day prior to the start of the Top Gun Invitational features the Elite National Showcase, a prospect camp. This camp offers athletes the chance to play in front of coaches from Division I, Division II, NAIA, and JUCO. The 2024 Top Gun Invitational saw 200+ colleges represented and 350+ college coaches in attendance. The event has been voted one of the top three Division I recruiting tournaments in the country.

In 2024, the Top Gun Invitational featured 320 teams from 32 states. Over 100 of these teams flew in for the tournament, and 280 teams stayed in hotels.

Top Gun Events is a national leader in executing premier athletic events for the softball athlete. Since hosting its first tournament in 2013, Top Gun Events has grown to host more than 30 tournaments a year. These elite tournaments are often combined with camps and combine/metric activities for the athletes.
