Join us for the Auburn Ascent Climbing Competition, presented by Auburn Outdoors, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Auburn University Recreation and Wellness Center. This exciting event is perfect for climbers of all skill levels, offering a full day of competition, community, and fun in the heart of Auburn, Alabama.

Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025
Location: Auburn University Recreation and Wellness Center, 3414 Waverly Parkway, Opelika, AL 36801
Time: Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. CDT; competition heats run from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Competition Format:
The Auburn Ascent Climbing Competition uses the Redpoint Climbing Format, where each route and problem is assigned a point value. The more challenging the route, the more points you earn. Climbers can attempt as many routes as they wish within their heat time, but each route can only be scored once. Your final score will be the total of your best three Top Rope routes and best three boulder problems.

Skill Categories:

Recreational: Up to 5.9, V1 - V3
Intermediate: 5.9+ to 5.11, V4 - V6
Advanced: 5.11+, V6 and up
Schedule:

7:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.: Registration
8:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.: First Heat
11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Second Heat
2:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.: Third Heat
6:00 p.m.: Awards Ceremony and Raffle

Lodging & Parking:
For those traveling to Auburn, camping is available at the nearby Chewacla State Park, just three miles from campus. Unfortunately, indoor camping at the Recreation and Wellness Center is not available.

Parking can be challenging due to other athletic events happening on the same weekend. We recommend parking in the Arena or Coliseum lots, with the CDV lot available as overflow. Parking is free after 5:30 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday.

Registration:
Register on-site starting at 7:00 a.m. in the lower level of the Recreation and Wellness Center. Early check-in is available on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Auburn Outdoors. Warm up with cocoa, coffee, and community before the big day!
