About Melvin Park

Melvin Park, one of five parks operated by the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, opened in March 2017. The park is named in honor of longtime Chapin resident Brinkley Melvin’s parents, Henry and Harriett Melvin, who taught their off spring to love sports and to always champion underdogs.
