Old School Park is filled with history, and it’s name says it all.  When it was apparent, in 1918, that the two room schoolhouse built back in 1905  would be insufficient to meet the growing needs of the community land was secured and construction of the first school began in 1920.  A high school was added in 1926, but was soon outgrown.  Next, a “modern” three story high school was added in 1937 and was even expanded in 1953.  All of this is now gone, and the school has moved to another location.  Because of it’s special educational significance the original school grounds were turned into a park and still serves the community today.

There is plenty of open space with awesome views of omnipresent Whitehorse and Jumbo Mountains.  The park has a large picnic gazebo with nearby barbecues.  This gazebo and be reserved through the Town of Darrington to host special events.  Adjacent to the gazebo is the playground with slide, swings and more.

Sports opportunities at the park include a basketball court, tennis court and pickle ball court.  To the north of the court is a bicycle pumptrack all built by volunteers and great way for anyone to improve their bicycling skills.  The park also has a very special skateboard park, designed by the famous skateboard icon, Tony Hawk!
