The University of Maryland Eastern Shore William P. Hytche Athletic Center was recently renovated and now includes new markings on the basketball court and completely redone locker room facilities for men’s and women’s basketball. The overhauled locker room design has a large-screen plasma television to go along with new lockers and carpeting.
The gym has a capacity of 5,500, and the multipurpose surface can be used for different sports, including basketball, cheer and dance, indoor track, futsal, volleyball, wrestling and more.
Hawk Stadium, home of the UMES baseball team, is directly behind the Hytche Center. Across the street is the university's Hawk Field, home of the softball team and the UMES cross-country course. Adjacent to the softball field are the Hawk tennis courts, home of the men's and women's tennis teams, and a large grass area used for soccer by the UMES club soccer team and other events.
Opposite the baseball and softball fields is the UMES driving range. The bowling alley, the practice facility for the women’s bowling teams, is located in the Student Services Center to the right of the Hytche Center.
