Sacramento State University is undeniably Sacramento’s home for the best and highest number of world-class sports facilities. The university’s main facilities include Hornet Stadium, Broad Athletic Fieldhouse, the Nest, John Smith Field, Shea Stadium, Hornet Field, Sacramento State Aquatic Center, Sacramento State Tennis Courts and Livermore Community Park. Hornet Stadium was originally built in 1969 and has a capacity for 21,195 spectators; the facility has a new state-of-the-art playing field and scoreboard. Built in 1955, the Nest is one of the NCAA’s oldest facilities among all Division 1 member universities. In May of 2018, the university hosted the NCAA D-1 Preliminary Round Track & Field Championships and in July 2019 will host the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships.
