South Cove park is a 48 acre park nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and located on the clear waters of 18,500 acre Lake Keowee. Camping is located on a 15 acre peninsula offering 86 campsites with water and electricity on each site with 46 sites waterfront. Two bath houses serve the campground area and a dump station is located near the entrance of the park.
South Cove Park offers a wide variety of day use facilities as well as lakeside camping. Fishing, boating, sailing and water skiing are readily available via three access ramps. Day use facilities include Four pickleball courts, three tennis courts, basketball, playground areas, picnic areas, a handicapped accessible fishing pier and a waterfront sand beach for sun bathing. South Cove offers two rental buildings/shelters for reunions, birthday parties, award ceremonies, and picnics that are available by reservations.
The lake shore is thickly forested with mostly pine, and the lake itself is large with many inlets and coves to explore. Over 200 species of birds call this area home, including waterfowl, shorebirds, woodland birds and even the occasional peregrine falcon and bald eagle.
