The Erie Insurance Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania. The arena gives Erie the ability to host a wide range of sports events such as professional ice hockey, professional basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, and indoor football. The arena is home to the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League and the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G-League and current affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans. The facility comes equipped with eight team locker rooms and can seat more than 6,700 people for ice hockey and 6,900 people for basketball. A recent $47 million restoration and expansion project was completed to include additional seating, new club and luxury suites, renovated restrooms and enlarged concourse areas. The arena has successfully hosted many prestigious state and national events, including the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championships, the 2011 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four, the 2014 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championships, and the 2018 College Hockey Inc. Ice Breaker Tournament. The venue will again host the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four in 2021. There are about 4,000 hotel rooms in the surrounding area.
