The City of Surprise has seen a convergence of baseball talent from across the country! Surprise Stadium and Recreation Campus host a series of nationally ranked baseball tournaments throughout the year in partnership with highly accredited sports organizations.
According to International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Sports tourism is a recession resistant industry. It is the only segment with no decline in any quarter of the recession. Youth and amateur sports in particular, is an $11.4-billion-dollar industry and is the fastest growing segment of sports tourism, with the southwest region having the most opportunity for growth.

The City of Surprise Sports & Tourism Department is responsible for managing Major League Baseball Spring Training at Surprise Stadium, shared-use facility partnerships with Ottawa University, major tennis tournaments, and tourism driven events, festivals, and sports tournaments.
