About Robert Morris University

The 4,000-plus-seat Peoples Court is a cornerstone of the university's strategic plan and replaces a venue that is more than 30 years old. RMU's successful NCAA Division I athletics programs bring national media exposure, and an attractive modern facility will elevate the school's image. The best scholar-athletes now expect a level of amenities that the new arena provides, including improved strength and conditioning facilities, locker rooms, and a full practice court.

Robert Morris University opened Joe Walton Stadium in 2005, the first on-campus football field named in honor of a head coach that started the program from scratch and served 20 years at the helm. Joe Walton Stadium owns a capacity of 3,000 and features a 36,000-square-foot athletic administration building that holds office space for the football coaching staff, athletic administration and Olympic sport coaches. Also included in the building is a state-of-the-art weight room, equipment room, two locker rooms, three classrooms, lobby, press box and President’s box.

Purchased by Robert Morris University in the summer of 2004, the RMU Island Sports Center is the region’s premier sports and recreation destination. Located just nine miles from downtown Pittsburgh on the western tip of Neville Island, the facility is home to the Robert Morris Division I men’s and women’s ice hockey teams and the RMU rowing and track & field programs. The Colonial men's and women's ice hockey teams play their games in 84 Lumber Arena, one of the ISC's two indoor ice arenas. The RMU track & field program has an outdoor track that has hosted a pair of Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while the latest addition to the complex, the McPhail Boathouse, was unveiled in October of 2016. The 32-acre campus includes two indoor ice arenas and two multi-purpose rinks as well as an indoor golf driving range and Sports Dome, a track and field, miniature golf course, fitness center, pro shop and bistro.

The North Athletic Complex was built after clearing a 24-acre parcel of land that was nothing more than a heavily wooded hilltop and consists of two natural grass soccer fields (one for games and the other for practices) and a softball field and a pavilion that features a covered area for picnics, restrooms and storage areas.
