About World Gay Boxing Championships

World Gay Boxing Championships (WGBC) is an Australian nonprofit committed to increasing LGBTQIA+ and inclusion and participation in boxing.

We are an inclusive organisation and work closely with our allies to disrupt homophobia, transphobia etc. in boxing and sport in general.

We organise and hold safe, successful, and fun boxing competitions where everyone is welcome. In the modern world, boxing is also about championing confidence, health and wellness, love, community, and friendship. We have been featured in CNN, The Guardian, ABC News, CBS News, BBC Sport, Out Magazine, and many prestigious international and LGBTQIA+ media outlets.

We have received statements of support from the World Boxing Council, International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association, and World Boxing Federation. Safe participation is our number one priority.

Mission statement

Our aim is to promote boxing to and amongst the LGBTQIA+ and wider community, providing opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people to compete in the sport of boxing in a safe and friendly environment.
