Boise hosts Far West and President’s Cup youth tournaments.
For ten of the last 13 years, US Youth Soccer’s Far West Regional Championships have been successfully hosted in our very own backyard, but for the first time this year, Boise hosted both the President’s Cup (June 16-29) and the Far West Championships (June 23-29). Close to 400 teams participated in both tournaments coming from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii and as close as California. Our team at Visit Boise worked with Idaho Youth Soccer for months to ensure they had all the resources they needed to pull off both events and even provided volunteers on the ground to help ensure success. We estimate the tournaments’ economic impact was close to $20 million dollars for Boise.
Roaring Springs Waterpark offers the perfect post-event spot for families.
The brand new expansion opened late May, and is the first phase of seven
The Roaring Springs Waterpark expansion opened this summer ahead of schedule. The park opened Memorial Day weekend and features expanded water slides, pools and a lazy river. The park is already one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest and is planning to expand an additional 40% in the coming years, making it one of the largest waterparks in the country. Roaring Springs features obstacle courses that include overhead ropes and water basketball courts. The newly opened first expansion includes an interactive kids’ play structure with seven slides, a whitewater wave action river, a kids’ adventure pool, the waterpark’s first bar, as well as 16 luxury cabanas. There will also be additional parking added along with other amenities. Roaring Springs provides families coming to town for sporting tournaments and events a fun way to beat the heat for all ages.
Idaho Steelheads made the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals.
Record-setting season drew huge fan interest.
The Idaho Steelheads defeated Toledo 4-1 in the Western Conference Finals before falling to Florida in the Kelly Cup Finals. It was a record-setting season for the Steelheads, who scored 119 points and recorded 58 wins in the regular season. In addition to ECHL records in wins and points, Idaho also captured the most home wins (32) in league history and tied the record for most road wins with 26. The team increased average attendance for the season to over 5,000 fans per game and sold out a record-setting 30 games in a row at Idaho Central Arena. The Idaho Central Arena is a multi-use arena in Boise that can host anything from indoor football, indoor soccer, basketball, gymnastics, MMA fighting, ESports and more.
